• 1457: King Henry VII was born in Pembroke Castle, Wales
• Henry was the only son of Edmund Tudor and Margaret Beaufort
  • Margaret Beaufort was a descendant of King Edward III through his son, John of Gaunt, and his third wife Katherine Swynford
• The father of King Henry VII, Edmund Tudor, died before he was born and Henry was raised by his uncle Jasper Tudor
• Henry Tudor was a member of the House of Lancaster. England entered a period of Civil war called the War of the Roses between noble factions of the House of York and the House of Lancaster
• A Lancastrian rebellion rose against the Yorkist King Richard III following the disappearance of the Princes in the Tower( the two young brothers of Elizabeth of York)
• 1485 August 22nd: Henry Tudor defeated King Richard III in the Battle of Bosworth Field and Henry Tudor claimed the throne of England
• The Tudor Dynasty was born.
• 1486 18 January: The Lancastrian King Henry VII married Elizabeth of York, the daughter of Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville
